Winnipeg Optimist Athletics

Outdoor 2024 has ended. In a few weeks, a new season will begin and with it, new hopes, new dreams, and renewed vigor. Good luck!

Mission & Vision

Mission Statement:

The mission of Winnipeg Optimist Athletics, through its coaches, parent executive and partners, is to
support athletics excellence and to provide opportunities for Manitobans to experience the challenges of athletic development.

Vision Statement (REVISED 2021):

Winnipeg Optimist Athletics endeavours to provide athletes, coaches and officials with opportunities to
grow in the sport; physically, mentally, and emotionally, to reach their potential in a kind, caring, yet
challenging environment, free of negativity in all its forms.

Diversity, Inclusion, Equity Statement (NEW 2021):

Winnipeg Optimist Athletics (WOA) strives to create an inclusive environment that promotes and values diversity in our sport. 

WOA members (athletes, coaches, volunteers and club administrators) are diverse in age, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity and perspective. 

WOA is committed to providing a safe and welcoming place for people of all ages, abilities, genders, cultural, ethnic, religious backgrounds or socio-economic status.
 
WOA believes in providing a fair and equal environment where everyone, from any background, can have
fun and strive to achieve their personal best performance in our sport.

Land Acknowledgement (NEW 2021):

The University of Manitoba campuses are located on original lands of Anishinaabe, Cree,
Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.

Winnipeg Optimist Athletics (WOA) respects the Treaties that were made on these territories, and we
dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

It was agreed that the above Corporate Statements will be posted on the WOA website and will be used
in written and oral communications when/where appropriate.
