One of the questions that parents have is “How do I register my son or daughter for a particular event in a meet?”
The answer is that you don’t…. your athlete’s coach will do that for you. Your responsibility (or more accurately your son’s or daughter’s) is that they let the coach know in which event they wish to compete before the entry deadline.
The next question tends to be “How do I pay for the event?”
The answer is that you don’t…. your club fees cover all entry fees for local track and field meets sanctioned by Athletics Manitoba.
The third question is likely, “Are there any provincial competitions not covered?”
The answer is yes…. If you run road races, you are responsible for your own entry fees and if you are in one of the Masters groups, you are also responsible.
Finally, “What about National Championships and meets out of province or meets in the States, for example?”
National Championships are subsidized by the club, which will pay 50% of the entry fee. Costs of meets outside of Manitoba are the responsibility of the athlete.
