Alhaji Mansaray gets Bronze at Francophone Games

Alhaji Mansaray finished the Francophone Games with third in the Men’s High Jump with a 2.16m performance on Tuesday, July 26, 2017.  Sean Cate also representing Canada won the event with a 2.20 performance.

Alhaji is a member of the Winnipeg Optimist Athletics Club and is coached by Athletics Manitoba’s Provincial High Performance coach Mingpu Wu.

The Games are being held in the Ivory Coast and conclude on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

Good job to everyone that competed this weekend. There were great results all around that resulted in personal bests, season’s bests and medal performances. Because of this, we will take Sunday and Monday off as well. Next practice will be Wednesday March 8.

For those of you who are not competing in High School Series, you are officially on break and should not come to those practices. Practices will resume again in the beginning of April. Use this time to get healthy, do not go training on your own. Take the time off!

For those competing in the High School series championships, I will see you Wednesday(not me physically but the workout will be on the wall).

Junior Development Cross Country Team / Coach Cadman’s Group

Happy Halloween Everyone!!!!!!

I want to congratulate all of our athletes who ran in the Chris McCubbins Cross Country Championships this Saturday. All of our athletes ran hard through the one foot deep mud and steep slippery hills. This was a very tough race, but our Junior Development Cross Country Team was ready for the challenge.

I want to recognize our Junior Development Cross Country Team who participated this weekend, and for some this was their very first race.

Junior Development Workout Times

All JD practices are at Max Bell Centre this week Sept. 26. Mon (5:15 PM), Tuesday 5:30 PM, Wed. 5:15 PM, Thursday at 5:15 PM. Weekend practices for Junior Development Group will be continuing  this weekend on Sat, Oct. 1 at 11:00 AM and Sunday, Oct. 2 at Noon with Stephen Katopodis.  Practices will be at Max Bell, meet in the portable aluminum stands at the south end of the Jim Daly Fieldhouse.

Intermediate Power-Speed Workout Times

All Intermediate Power Speed practices will be in Max Bell starting Monday, Sept. 26 with practices also Wed., Thursday (all at 5:30 PM start) and also on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 at 12:00 Noon.

Please note that due to the sun setting earlier, there will be changes to locations and starting times.  If you have concerns, please contact me; I can make alternative arrangements for your workout.

During the week, if the weather looks poor, please feel free to text me to see if the workout is still happening.  However, only if the weather is unsafe will we cancel. Pack your workout bags with sufficient layers, toques, ear protection, scarves, and mitts. On Saturdays, once we hit October, the alternative location for workouts is the Pan Am Pool at noon if the weather is inclement.  We will be in the pool doing deep water running (you would bring $5.00 to get in and a quarter for the locker). To get in the deep end, you need to be able to swim a couple of widths.  I will email the morning of, if this is option is occurring at about 9:00am.
